Markdown Preview

Type or paste Markdown on the left and read the rendered result on the right. The renderer follows CommonMark with common GFM extensions and escapes raw HTML.

What is supported

The preview covers ATX headings, paragraphs and hard breaks, emphasis, links and images, ordered and unordered lists, fenced code, blockquotes, horizontal rules, GFM tables and task lists. Inline code and fenced blocks are rendered literally, so Markdown punctuation inside them is not interpreted.

Raw HTML is escaped rather than executed. That is a deliberate limitation: a preview should not become a script execution surface, and a real publishing pipeline needs a server-side sanitizer with an explicit allowlist.

Rendering versus publishing

This previewer is for checking syntax quickly. It does not implement every extension, syntax highlighting, footnotes or reference-link definitions across the whole document. If a construct renders differently on your target platform, the platform is authoritative.

Link destinations are restricted to http, https, mailto, relative and anchor URLs. Images load from their source, so a preview of untrusted Markdown can still make network requests; do not paste content you do not trust into a page that should stay offline.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Markdown uploaded?

No. Parsing and rendering happen in the browser.

Why is raw HTML shown as text?

To prevent script injection. Escaping HTML is the safe default for a preview tool.

Does it support reference links?

The preview focuses on inline syntax and common GFM blocks. Reference definitions may render literally; check the target platform for full support.
