What application/ld+json is
JSON-LD expresses linked data in ordinary JSON, using keys such as @context, @type and @id. In web pages it is usually placed in a <script type="application/ld+json"> block to describe the page, an organization, a product or an FAQ. Search engines parse it to build rich results.
Why JSON-LD gets ignored
The markup must be valid JSON and must use a recognized vocabulary — usually schema.org. A trailing comma, a property on the wrong type, or a required field left out makes the whole block unusable. The script block must be in the document head or body, not injected after the crawler has parsed the page. Test the rendered HTML, not the source template.
Frequently asked questions
Does JSON-LD affect rankings directly?
It is not a direct ranking factor, but it enables rich results and helps search engines understand entities. Invalid markup provides no benefit.
Can a page have more than one JSON-LD block?
Yes. Multiple script blocks are allowed and are merged into a graph by consumers. Keep each block valid on its own.
